Create new events in the system as they happen or use planned events to help manage traffic problems before they start.

Events

Users of the OpenReach system have the ability to create different types of events in the Client to inform various agencies of conditions and proceedings happening in their Region. Events can be of many different types but can be described in general as an occurrence happening on a roadway which could adversely affect travel patterns. Events can be broken down into many different categories:

Highway Events are related to roadway conditions like flooding or rush hour delays while Transit Events refer to conditions that can affect public transportation like a derailed train. Special Events include street festivals, air shows, and sporting events while Construction Events include bridge work, guard rail repairs, station closings, and other instances requiring planned changes to travel.

These categories can also be grouped into planned (e.g. a road closure due to a parade) or unplanned events (e.g. a truck fire). Planned events are entered into the system in advance and spawn automatically when scheduled while unplanned events are entered spontaneously in response to events happening on the roadway.
