Testing Environment

CoVal maintains and operates a comprehensive dedicated test environment for the Foundation III and TI-MED systems. This test bed is structurally identical to the production systems but does not communicate with devices on the roadway and can be used to evaluate software revisions and database entries. In addition to the servers, CoVal also maintains a collection of compatible devices representative of actual units in the field. CoVal’s test bed includes:

Foundation suite of servers populated with relevant information taken from live systems including a Database server, TII, SAM, and PDMs.
TI-MED suite of servers populated with an operational database including a CSS and LSSs.
VMS controllers and sign emulators: LEDstar and Mark IV.
Multiple field cabinet simulators for Ramp Metering, Surveillance and Incident Detector scenario testing.
Various models of WiFi and BlueTooth readers as well as acoustic and radar detectors.
CoVal TI-MED Cabinet Interface devices.
EZPass Tag Readers: Mark IV Badger, Encompass models II and III.

The test bed has been host to numerous other devices, such as CCTV cameras, on an as-needed basis for testing.
