Lead Service Engineer

Joe Golderer

Joe Golderer joined CoVal in May of 2009 as a Service Engineer. Since then he has worked with every CoVal system implementation and is now Products Manager in charge of all CoVal support and implementation projects and staff. He currrently serves as Project Manager of CoVal's portion of the NYSDOT's Integrated Corridor Management implementation.

Mr. Golderer is well versed in the operation and interactions of ATMS hardware and software, among his prior projects are:

  • Mr. Golderer was responsible for field device integration, hardware and software configuration, and network engineering for INFORM's northern corridor maintenance contract. He engineered and developed the overall configurations for all northern corridor routers according to network design and acted as the on-site System Administrator during the implementation phase of the new network infrastructure. This included producing a plan for transition from the old serial infrastructure to the new Ethernet based infrastructure along with overseeing the entire conversion. Mr. Golderer is well versed in Cisco Router configuration and operation including the three-layered model approach for infrastructure design and management.

  • Mr. Golderer is accountable for the system support, maintenance, implementation, and field device integration for the INFORM system and its Foundation II system. He is responsible for answering trouble calls, assisting operators and field technicians, and providing training for new system functions. He also updates system databases, performs checks on major system components, ensures the information stored in the databases is properly backed up, and maintains updates for system documentation. Furthermore, Mr. Golderer is responsible for updating system software, testing new functionality, planning and implementing new computer room hardware integration, and documenting relevant implementation procedures. He engineers procedures for integrating new equipment into the system and manages this for Foundation II. Mr. Golderer also assists in the testing and configuration of the field equipment and oversees the integration of the network into the system.

  • Mr. Golderer has performed various other roles in major CoVal projects. He developed and implemented a training program for TMC staff during the Willamsburg Bridge LCS work which included PowerPoint presentations and training syllabi. For the Wantagh State Parkway extension to Foundation II, he handled database additions and documentation.

  • Mr. Golderer has obtained a post-baccalaureate certificate in Geographic Information Systems.
